About me
Hello. Welcome to my website.
My name is Chanelle. I am a counsellor and consultant with a background spanning higher education, health, disability & community services.
My career in education began nearly two decades ago teaching English in rural Japan, before a few years of overseas adventuring, and establishing a career in supporting international student wellbeing within the university sector. Nearly 8 years ago I ventured into the non-profit health, disability, and community services sector here in Australia.
Over the past 8 years, I’ve led teams in consumer engagement & education, information and support services, and nationwide peer support programs. I’ve designed and delivered support services for dementia, brain injury, lung disease, and worked with lived and living experience advocates who were leading the way for change in the health system.
Alongside this work, I decided to go back to school, and completed my Diploma of Counselling, and I’m currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling. I am particularly drawn to Narrative Therapy and focused much of my professional development in this area. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in Media and Political Science and training in Partnership Brokerage.
As someone who is neurodivergent, ADHD influences how I experience the world without defining me. It brings empathy, creativity, and fresh perspectives that enrich my work. These strengths allow me to connect deeply as a counsellor and I aim to facilitate inclusive, meaningful engagement as a consultant. I believe each person is the expert in their own life, and my role is to walk alongside people with empathy, curiosity, and care.
